going to be into a new set of tyres soon, so just wondering would anyone know what was the OEM tyre supplied for the A6 Avant SE (MY13) model?

Currently on 225/55/17 Pirelli Cinturato P7

    Thanks

Manufactures change tyre brands all the time so not all A6s of that model might have come from the factory with the same tyre brand.

Best thing to do is review the different brands in that size on the likes of www.tyrereviews.co.uk. Take particular note of the road noise, performance in the rain, wear, etc ratings of the different brands.

Would I be right in thinking they are run flats?

    No they aren't runflats.

its more than type. if you want 100% oem what ever tyres you get have to have the "AO" marking . this means they are approved by audi . the Pirelli P7 were an oem tyre for audi but even if you choose them again if you want 100% oem it needs the "AO" mark . any of these are audi approved tyres

The car has tyre pressure monitoring on it, I thought this was only with run flats which is why I mentioned it

Id prefer not to have RF from what I heard about them. My last car had Nokian Line tyres and loved them so was going to look at the Z line tyres

    Grip in wet and dry...quiet....

I didn't have them long enough to comment on wear but by all accounts the reviews said that was respectable aswell

by all accounts they are ment to be a fine mid range tyre alright . but the pirelli p7 has them beat in every test ive ever seen other than price . anyway if you prefer them fair enough :).

you dont need to use run flat tyres even if they were standard . standard tyres will fit on a run flat rim but not vice versa . do the pirelli tyres you have on it at the moment have "RFT" written on them anywhere ?

EDIT: after having a look, those nokian Z line actually get great reviews , might try them myself next time :D

Your tyres don't need to be run flats to have a tyre pressure monitoring system. Plenty of cars have tyre pressure monitoring with standard radial tyres. And Audi don't fit run flat tyres to the A6 from the factory afaik.

ok thanks for all the feedback

so would you know is the tyre pressure mon system only for the purpose of monitoring run flats or can it be used with standard tyres aswell to give you an indication that the pressure is below optimum?

The latter, if there is a discrepancy between the 4 four tyres, it'll use the system to notify you. You then check all four tyres, add/remove air if necessary and reset the system.
