    Would you buy a 2003 one, if it formally had a flickering oil light?
    It has had the sump off and cleaned and sounds fine...or is the damage done?

    Those are well known for oil pressure/sludge problems.If it had a flickering oil light it had oil pressure problems.
    Bit of a gamble if the crank/cams were not getting enough oil.

    he seems genuine and volunteered this info. he said the light flickered one particular morning when it was cold and had the sump dropped.

    Its an anniversary model last of the hatchbacks...if that changes anything?

    worst case scenario are good engines available cheap?

    Drove a 445mile round trip to see it.
    Lovely car, solid, great nick, low milage. but oil pissing out of it at the top near the intake. To be fair the seller though the mechanic fixed it and as he has a disability hasn't driven it since......
