So I lost my full driving licence recently, but it was due to run out next month anyway, so no biggie.

I'm in the process of applying for a new licence, it seems that ndls is down, but I manged to source the forms elsewhere.

I have a couple of questions, firstly I'll be applying for an A1 permit in May to get my bike licence, I noticed that the fee to add a new category to a licence is €35.

I was thinking of just renewing my licence for a year (only €25) and when I've got my bike licence I can then get a 10 year licence for the car and bike costing me €55, rather than paying €55 now and another €35 when I get my bike licence.
The 1 year licence says it issued on medical grounds, so maybe I can't do this at all?

My second question is regarding the photos required for both the D401 form and the D201 form I downloaded here , both have photo section on them, but on www.citizensinformation.ie/ it states that "You will not have to provide photographs with your application" so are the forums I have older forms, or do I need to bring photos with my application?

I long for the day this can all be done from the comfort of my couch

Unfortunately you will have to pay twice, i went through this when i got my A 1 license and my other license was due to expire. Very similar to you.

Money money money pain in the arse.

Also the photos are taken in the NDLS centre with a camera machine, 21st Century baby! no photos required by you .

Yeah I figured as much...

The one thing I actually preferred about the old system was being able to choose a photo that looked half way decent, now I get one chance to strike a pose :D

The price we pay for progress... worth it

I assume that the forms I have are older forms then, I'll wait for ndls.ie to come back online.

As a healthy young person, your only option on renewal is a 10 year license.

Healthy and young... don't know if I fit the bill :D
