Folks got a call from the uncle that he can't turn the key in his igntion, haven't had a look yet

Both keys were tried same results

initial google points to an issue with igniton barrel (obviously enough)

Just wondering has anyone first hand experience with this issue, I'm going to try a bit of WD40 in it firsrt

Both the ignition barrel and the main lock mechanism give trouble. Really all you can do is change the barrel first and see how you get on.

Cheers George - have you a rough figure on the cost of parts assuming I'll need to go ,main dealer for the igniton barrel to match the key

The barrel is approx €155 ex VAT and comes pre made to match your key.
The lock mechanism is about €100 IIRC.

Right so had a bash at it as the steering wheels locked in place I couldn't release the airbag I manged to get the steering cowel off getting one screw and dremeling the other side

to drill out the shear bolts (f**kin nuisance) I used a 90 degree drill attachment and a hss bit

I milled in a screw extractor and got one of the bolts out the other one I had difficulty shifting but will look again when I've light.

No panic on the car as hes away on holiers.
