Increasing PRSA contributions

    Hi,
I have a PRSA which my employer does not contribute to. My contributions have been relatively low to date and I'm looking to increase these.
Is it reasonable/legal to sit with my employer and ask them to reduce my salary and then reapportion this amount in the form of pension contributions to my existing PRSA - thus taking advantage of tax relief and reducing my taxable salary?
Separately (I feel dumb asking this), do employer contributions to an employee's pension cost the employer anything? After a little reading I think I must misunderstand that it does not. See the example at the bottom of the page ...

    Thanks!
