It's the first I've heard of it, but Mullingar Barracks as a temporary housing facility is a good idea. It's secure and the accommodation has been renovated to a very good standard.

I agree that its secure, but when the army left they took everything that was not nailed down. It would take a lot to make it habitable for anybody plus the only place to cook was the cookhouse which was gutted of all equipment.

What does this mentioning of "secure" mean ? - Secure as in keeping people out, or secure as regards keeping people in ?

I heard a rumour that a lot of them were going to be housed in Dalton Park. It was over a pint though, so I'm not so sure how much truth there is in it.

Secure in that there are a lot of areas closed off to people and doors that can't be open easily without a key. From what I heard and seen when I was last there in Nov. The un vets had a problem when they fixed up the blocks they took over, as the fire escapes at the rear were taken down and the area at the rear of the blocks was completely fenced off.

Well the story around Mullingar is that the deal has been done and after the election it will be rolled out

They were supposed to be doing up the cook house before closing the barrack, whether that happened or not, I couldn't tell you.

Secure, as in, 1 main point of entry and exit, with high walls.

That is my understanding of secure as well. My question was what was the meaning of secure as mentioned in the first few posts as a plus point for choosing Mullingar Barracks: Is the security requirement to keep people out or to keep people in ?

The Government seems determined to push ahead with its plan to bring up to 5000 Muslim refugees to this small Celtic Island on the edge of Europe.

    It is sheer Madness.

Just look at the mayhem being caused in huge German cities in the last few weeks by this clash of cultures.

To inflict this, or even a small percentage of this on tiny Mullingar beggars belief.

Europe will rue this lunacy in the years to come.

Its horrible to see what is happening in their countries but one thing I feel should be done is help those that actually need it and help them get back on their feet in their own environment (country)

How can a small island keep on paying out what it is on free housing and all other benefits and then keep taking in thousands of refugees.

Also from what I see on the news is more young men running then any other types.

Why aren't they fighting for their rights.

I hope they resolve the fighting and killings stop but it doesn't look likely.

I would assume to keep people out. I'm some people around the area would take an intense dislike to refugees.

After cologne and the gangs attacking women in other areas on the same night? Id say secure applies both to keeping people out and keeping people in.
