    Hi guys,

I'm in a really difficult situation,
Long story short, my girlfriend needs an English course so that she can get a visa to come to Ireland because of personal family problems *trying to avoid arranged marriage *

But she doesn't have that much money (students wages)

I was just wondering if any of you guys know any cheap places where they teach English (she can speak it fine but just needs a course so she can show that she's here to study)

Or alternatively.. If there are any other courses that are relatively cheap no more than 1500 or ones where you can pay per semester.. It would be really helpful. Im just lost now at this stage and need some help so I thought I'd come here to ask.

    Cheers guys!

Many VECs (ETBs) provide ESL classes for free from their Literacy centres.

However, having an English course is not a requirement to get a visa to come to Ireland. If she is not in need of the VEC course she should not take up a place on it.

What other options do I have?

Unfortunately currently, the study scheme visa seems to the best option. Are there any other cheap courses?

If she takes up the Vec course does it allow her to take up a study visa?

Why does she want a study visa? She can apply legitimately without any English lessons for a normal visa.

Is it that she wants to work?

I don't think she would not qualify for a VEC course as she is not resident in the state. She would also require a minimum of €3000, accommodation and medical insurance for the duration of her stay and have an attendance rate of more than 85% to further extend her permission for any further courses.

If you are in a relationship and you personally have already a valid permission in the state or you are indeed an Irish Citizen, then you can apply for a De-facto relationship with INIS if your relationship with her is more than 2 years. (Proof of this would be required)

I think you are right here, it is more the work/relationship reason.
