    Hi Guys,

I'm in dire need of help with maths at the moment. Like dropping out of a Masters if I don't get help soon kind of need.

I'm hoping someone knows someone in Athlone that offers private lessons because everywhere I've tried I can't seem to get anyone. I even tried that Uni Tuition website and there was no-one in the area who could offer any help.

The areas I need to cover are things like Fourier transforms, trigonometry, transpositions of formulae, etc.

If anyone knows anything please let me know.

Have you looked here Maths Forum for assistance? Is there any tutors in the College?

Google is also a great resource. For example Formulae Transposition in PDF format and Fourier Tranforms. The only advice I can really offer is, even if you don't like something, keep plugging away at it. I'd also have a look at pass papers, using them as practice. If all else falls and you're in AIT, you could talk to Mark Daly regarding help.

Thanks for the information, I really appreciate it. I was actually on to Mark Daly but he wasn't able to come up with anything.

I've got on to the tutor in our building as well and he's really excellent, but I think I'll need more help than he has time unfortunately. I'm not one of those people who says I'm terrible but I'm not really, I mean I can barely put two numbers together.

I'll try the maths forum, thanks so much for the help anyway. :)

I would help, but Maths in College wasn't my strong point. The Maths forum would be a good starting point, along side any tutors available. Is there many on your Course that have the same issues? Maybe you could set up a study group during your free time and just plug away at it until things finally click.

Thanks for the information anyway. I appreciate it.

I managed to force a lot into my head this weekend so I'll see if I can continue that way. Don't ever let anyone tell you that panicking solves nothing. There are several of us in the same boat aswell.

I posted in the maths forum aswell, so thanks. :)

There is a very good maths teacher who lives in Athlone and teaches at 2nd and 3rd level privately. He works full time as well.

One step above my current level of education in AIT. Having had experience in industry, I soon realized that, one way of learning and improving on a skill is to keep plugging away with it until it sticks or makes sense.
