I've noticed there's a fair few photos of cars posted on here that have the GPS data tagged on them, now in general that's fine if they are taken out on the street in some random area but if you taken them of your car at home there is a risk (probably a small one) that someone could see from the info where you lived and then attempt to rob your car. Lots of nice cars here and nothing worse than making it easier for the thieves.

It's definitely an option that should come turned off on phones as most people probably don't even know it's there. I always turn it off myself, not that I have anything worth stealing

Windows 7 can remove all personal metadata/information from a photo.

    1. Right click on the file (photo) that you are about to upload
    2. Select "Properties"
    3. There's a "Details" tab
    4. At the bottom of the Details dialog is a link called "Remove Properties and personal information"

That allows you to remove as much or as little photo metadata as you want.

Yeah, I've tipped people off about that a good few times over the last few years. Most photo hosts strip that data automatically though, are they attachments or something?

Its a good point and its something I forgot to do on my workphone

    for what it's worth:

How to enable or disable GPS location tagging on your iPhone or iPad
    1. Launch the Settings app from your iPhone or iPad Home screen.
    2. Tap on Privacy.
    3. Tap on Location Services.
    4. Tap on Camera.
    5. Choose either While Using the App or Never.

Does that only work if your phone has GPS and mobile data on at the time of taking the photo?

They are a mix, some attachments and some on hosted sites like Photobucket.
