VW Golf - AUX Input

    Hi all,

I have a VW Golf 2008 TSI and I want to set up an AUX cable input somewhere. I prefer listening to music off my phone/Spotify, and I hate those FM transmitters.

What's the easiest way to do this?

I have one of these installed in the car - http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/DVD-Receivers/AVH-P4300DVD

Edit: I know if you read the specifications on the above it says it includes AUX input, but when I try this it doesn't work and there is no settings/options for AUX on the screen menu. It seems to be missing a lot of what is displayed on the site (I bought the car with it already installed)

If you have that, I would be getting the Bluetooth addon for it:
    "Bluetooth Adapter Ready CD-BTB200 required"
I just googled it, the guts of 200 notes for it. Wow.

    Under general:
    "AUX Input (3.5mm Mini-Jack) Rear"

So there is an AUX input on it.

You could get a cheap BT to 3.5mm bridge, they're a fiver on ebay. You'll need to provide a 5V source, which shouldn't be an issue as that headunit has USB ports.

Edit: I see your edit now. You either fix it, or get another double din unit somewhere which has BT in it.

Check the settings menu, sometimes on those Pioneer units the Aux has to be switched on in the settings.

I dug out the unit and there was an AUX input at the back, just needed the cable so I got one cheap and tried it, this triggered the AUX option on the menu. I threaded it out under the steering wheel and it works a charm.

Ideally I'd like it coming out one of the spaces provided by the ashtray but I couldn't direct the wire that way. A job for another day!

I'd really consider one of the BT bridges I listed above. Once your start using BT it's hard to go back.
