    Hi All,

The girlfriends mother left her car parked outside my place over the holiday season and now the remote central locking wont work as the battery is dead and using the key in the barrels isn't an option as the barrels seem to just spin around indefinitely!!

Any tricks on how I can gain access? I don't want to break a window as the car has a sale agreed on it.

    Cheers

    Try the other door.

To be fair, No one on a public forum will tell you how to break into a car. best answer you might get is call the AA, or an indy locksmith who specialises in these things.

There should be a way to open the bonnet release with a few tools..that way you could get some charge into the battery.

Had to do it on a vw polo a few years ago...couple of bolts on the bonnet release.

I have a feeling you need to use the passenger door to open with key

so why have a lock on the drivers door?

Is there a lock on the drivers door though? As far as I remember the emergency lock is only on passenger side

This is probably the handiest, even if you have to smash or break the grille to get to the bonnet release, it's cheaper and easier to replace than breaking a window.

That was the case with the next generation of renaults that had a keycard anyway. Not sure if thats the case with this generation of renault that sounds to be just a plain old key

Is the starter motor accessible from under the car?

You could raise the front of the car up and jump the car using the starter by putting the positive on the live positive connection on the starter and the negative on the engine block. The car will unlock then.

First of all @ morritty - don't be silly, public forums are full of this info. I just now read on a public forum that if you press in the headlights hard on old model clios the doors will unlock as the car thinks it was in a collision.... apparently

    Anyway... moving on

Yeah the newer model with the key-card has an emergency flap on the passenger side to unlock the car manually but this model is the previous version with a physical key. I'm miffed about the door barrels turning round and around!!

Why not oil the locks and try again after a while. Spinning round is a security measure on some cars and your locks may be dry

have you tried the fob battery?

Would putting power to the reg plate light give you enough to to open it with fob?

You're asking how to break into a car that's not yours, how am I being silly? Why should people tell you how to break into a car? I know you say it your mother in laws car, but none of us know that, anyway I'm out. Maybe a mod can decide who's right in this case.

Who'd rob a Scenic in fairness?

I locked my keys into my 1996 Megane back in the day. I smashed the tiny window beside the rear one in the back door. Think it cost me 25 or 35 quid to get replaced at the time.

Sounds like a genuine request to me.
