English car and traffic warden

Hi a family member is over on holiday and parked their car at the local shop. On the way back to the car they noticed a traffic warden was paying attention to the car even though it had a parking ticket on it. By the time they got back the warden was wondering off. Being an English (not NI) registered it doesn't have its discs displayed as they're not required now there was no ticket and apparently the warden saw them get into the car and drive off.

Just wondering what the chances are of them receiving a ticket through the post in the uk if the warden thought it wasn't taxed/insured/mot.

Joke aside. If they had a parking ticket they should be fine. Warden knows that a foreign car won't have the same disc system as us.

Probably checking the parking ticket was valid.

Probably checking the Tax was in date and it wasnt a missing VRT car. Which tbh i find that they are doing their job. If it was the cops should check the driver out.

Ive paid VRT several times why should other people get off it.

I realise in this case your friend was a visitor so that would not apply.

The UK got rid of tax discs in Oct 2014.

Parking wardens check the tax disc first to see if it's a Garda vehicle, if it is they ignore. They probably didn't see the reg plate and looked at this later.

Thanks there was a valid parking ticket but obviously no tax disc. In the UK discs are no longer displayed.

Does that mean it will be much harder for guards etc. to quickly spot a VRT dodger without having to query with the DVLA?

This is water. Inspiring speech by David Foster Wallace https://youtu.be/DCbGM4mqEVw?si=GS5uDvegp6Er1EOG

No. UK motor tax being valid or not on the vehicle has nothing to do with VRT payment, they will go by the reg.
