I'm just so angry reading about the whole organised wave of sex assaults and rapes across germany over christmas. Of course I'm furious that there are people out there who are sick enough to do such things but I am also angry that this is further demonising the 99% of men who are normal. Men have a bad enough reputation as it is and are already subjected to subtle discrimination and demonisation in many facets of life and are expected to be grateful for it. This is just throwing petrol on the fire.

And does anyone else find the whole "lets teach men not to rape" thing insulting in the extreme?

If people have lived in countries where the attitude to women is degrading to say the least,

what makes you think they'll change when they come to civilised countries?

Not really. The way I see it this has been blamed on a very specific demographic who come from a culture where men can do what they like and women are their property. I can see why people who have spent their lives in that sort of environment would need to be re-educated if they are to integrate into life in this part of the world. I am sickened by what happened in germany but for alot of the people involved they don't know any better much like children who are racist etc... due to growing up around racist parents. It doesn't justify it but it is not all men being accused of this and it isn't all men who are going to the classes.

A good example would be the saudi woman who filmed her husband groping the maid and putting it on facebook being sent to prison while him doing that isn't seen as wrong.

It's an extremely difficult subject to talk about without being demonized or seen to be stereotyping of these men. But they need to be highlighted. It's not a coincidence that this has happened the year there is a higher concentration of this demographic in the city.

These men come from societies were it is ok to treat women as second class citizens. Their attitudes and opinions don't change just because they are on different soil.

And no I don't find this insulting. They acted like animals, it needs to be made public. And no I don't agree with you when you say men have a bad enough reputation as it is. Where did you get this from?

"Men" my hole. Different men have different value systems, there is no homogenous group of "men", what simplistic nonsense.

I just feel like they're tarring all men with the same brush. Why don't they teach "immigrant men of arab and north african decent" not to rape? 99.9% of men don't need to be taught not to rape.

I think you are being a little sensationalist with this now... I'm not feeling tarred, i'm pretty sure the other posters aren't.

I think it would be a blow potentially for the Muslim religion/refugees more than men as a whole, tbh.

Where in the reporting of this issue have all men been blamed for this? Would you prefer the incident was ignored? No one I've spoken to blames all men or all Muslim men for this. OP you have a massive chip on your shoulder.

we to stop saying the word "man" or "men" when reporting on sex crimes and say "person" instead

Yes, like these threads end well. Never mind that as has been said, nobody was saying even close to "all men". Closed
