Record label contract question

Hi, I have contract from a label regarding having 3 of my songs featured on their compilation releases. I was just wondering about this clause

" I understand and agrees that the Company does not guarantee any royalties for airplay or promotion for any use, including but not limited to, using the music on internet radio stations, terrestrial radio stations, or website; I acknowledge and agree that the Company SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES RESULTING FROM SUCH PROMOTION. "

What kind of damages could these be? Also I'm planning on distributing an album for free with these songs on it, would this conflict with the contract which may include commercial release of the songs? There's no specific clause saying I can't do this and I'm granting non exclusive rights to them so the ownership would remain with me? but I was just wondering.
