    Hi there

I ordered a set of Bar end shifters for a touring bike build from a UK online store (Sprockets) . When I got the shifters and set them up there was a lot of play or side to side wiggle in one of them that I couldnt tighten out . I thought it wasnt good enough for them to be so loose already for the price I paid so I emailed and said Id send back to exchange for another set .

The shifters were small so I popped them in a padded envelope , sealed it up with seloptape and posted it regular post back to them for around 6 euro . That was in the first week of December . Ive been emailing the shop since asking if they recieved it etc and they said they havent and asked me for a tracking number etc which i told them I never got .

Unfortunate as they were the last parts to finish the build and also the most expensive . Moral of the story ; dont return parts in unregistered/uninsured post .

    Barry

Ive had this misfortune too on 3 separate occasions, as a result I have absolutely no faith in Royal Mail, either they're completely incompetent or have a lot of very dubious staff (which I'd be more inclined to lean towards)

I have never had the same problem sending stuff to any other country in the world and I have sold over 500 items on eBay in my time.

lesson learned on my part , also in hindsight i think Christmas is an especially bad time of year to send unregistered post as i remember from my time in the London that royal mail take on a lot of temporary staff for the holiday period, temps more likely to risk swiping things , not worth the risk for the sake of cheaper postage

Yeah my general rule of thumb is that if you'd be upset about it going missing, register it. This applies if it's a €100 bike part or some private documentation. Postal workers are a lot less likely to be sticky-fingered if they know the packaged is being tracked.
