    Hi,

I recently bought a Pioneer DEH-1800UB but every time I turn on the car it asks to set up and does not retain any of the settings.

I have followed the instructions in the manual but cannot see why i would need to set up the receiver every time i turn on the car

    Thanks

It's not wired correctly. You need a 12v permanent & a 12v switched live, connected correctly for the radio to retain memory & work properly. It might be as simple as swapping the live feeds around on the wiring loom or else you'll need to run a switched live from the fuse box, depending on your car.

    oh Alright, thanks

I would of assumed it was a straight swap with the old car radio

    Volkswagen?

Swap red and yellow (IIRC) wires.
