So starting college work placement in a week and I must fill in a 12A form as this is my first employment, but I just have a few questions.

1.The Employment or Pension details, my employer think I only fill that in if I want pension contributions to be taken out of my salary, is this correct? Or should I get the details and fill it in.

    2. Am I eligible for PAYE tax credit? 20, student and plan on working fulltime after my 3 months placement is up.

3.I am currently in recipt of SUSI, would this classify as income from department of social protection and state? I can't find which department makes the payment online.

Many thanks in advance, looking to get this sorted ASAP.

    Damien.

Yes, you definitely need to fill in those details for Revenue to set you up with your employer. Nothing to do with pension deductions (the reason it says Pension details is to facilitate those receiving a private pension upon retirement). Important bits are Employer PAYE Registered number (like their PPSN, 6 or 7 digits followed by 1 or 2 letters), Registered Company Name and your start date (roughly). Without these it won't be possible to set your tax credits up. If your employer doesn't seem to know, ask if there is someone in accounts/HR you can double-check with :)

Yes, provided you are not closely related to your employer (spouse/parent).

No, it is not income as it is money granted to you to cover the cost of your studies. Only taxable DSP payments (like Jobseekers Benefit or Illness Benefit) need to be declared in that section.

Best of luck with the new job!
