Just thought I'd share this, loads of maritime festivals in 2016. They never get enough love but if you've ever been to one you know they're great craic! Theres 11 great ones around the country and they're mostly volunteer run and sometimes for a good cause like the RNLI.

Also, if you know of any that aren't on the list, I'd be interested in hearing about them. Especially if they're good fun or there's sea shantys.

Review of the Dublin Bay Prawn Festival - March 2016

An enjoyable Dublin Bay Prawn festival kicked off the seafood season this weekend with impressive numbers turning out for the 3 day event in Howth. A cool but thankfully rain-free Friday made way for some decent sunshine on Saturday and especially Sunday allowing the big number of visitors to really enjoy the outdoor festival and see Howth at its best.

Rathlin Sound maritime festival 27th May - 5th June 2016

The Seafood season started last month with the Dublin Bay Prawn Festival and now we’re looking forward to the start of the maritime festival season, kicking off with the Rathlin Sound Maritime Festival. In its fifth year this festival is centred on Rathlin Sound, the body of water that lies between Rathlin Island and the town of Ballycastle on the beautiful Antrim coast and it celebrates the maritime traditions, local heritage and culture of this impressive area.

Connemara Mussel Festival 29th April – 1st May

We’re off to beautiful Connemara as Sea Food Festival season continues apace with the Connemara Mussel Festival on the May bank holiday weekend (29th April – 1st May). It takes place in Tully Cross, a small idyllic village located on the Renvyle Peninsula in West Connemara. Now in its 11th year, the festival began as a way to promote the superb mussels from Killary Harbour but over the years it has grown into a broader celebration of the best of Connemara’s food, culture and heritage.
