    Hi,

A group of us (8 in total) are travelling to Edinburgh in a couple of weeks time for two nights. Just wondering if anyone has any tips on things to do, where to stay, where to go out etc.

Any advice is much appreciated :)

    Thanks

Depends on the profile of the group, George St is the fancier area of town with late night bars and cocktails bars. The Cowgate/Grassmarket is where most of the groups would go for a night out, has the Irish bars and is generally more laid back. They're a taxi ride away though should you decide to change your mind last minute and will cost about £7/£8 to get across to each side.

Activity wise, the Castle is decent if you've never been before, you'd need about 3 hours to get round it. Cracking views from there, but you can walk up to the esplanade and see them from there without needing to go in.
Tons of galleries, museums and the likes as well as the Whiskey museum which is next to the Castle. Holyrood Palace is down the Royal Mile from the Castle too, about a 15minute walk. If you're feeling adventurous and the weather is decent you could climb (walk) Arthur's Seat, the view from there is incredible.

I'd recommend staying as central as possible, no further out than Haymarket.

Any recommendations for a city centre / close to castle hotel?
