    From worldofshowjumping.com:
Pan American Games silver medalist Andres Rodriguez (31) tragically passed away on Monday, following a fatal car accident inside the gated community Palm Beach Polo and Country Club. Sophie Walker (30), an equestrian as well, was a passenger in the car driven by Rodriguez and also lost her life in the accident.

On Andres Rodriguez official Facebook account, it is stated:

“It is with the deepest sadness that we have to announce that Andres Rodriguez and his passenger Sophie Walker suffered a tragic car accident on Monday morning in Wellington, Florida. Circumstances of the accident are still unclear.

Sophie Walker passed away in the accident and despite all efforts Andres passed away a few hours later. We are lost for words. Our prayers and thoughts go to Sophie's family, to Andres' wife and family. RIP Chepito.”

The Palm Beach Post reports that Rodriguez’s car collided with a concrete barrier at the Palm Beach Polo and Country Club in the early hours of the morning estimated to 3.25 a.m. according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Walker lost her life instantly, while Rodriguez was brought to Del Ray Medical Center in critical condition where he later passed away.

Rodriguez had his eyes set on the Olympic Games in Rio, following a fantastic 2015-season which brought him up to rank 41 on the Longines Ranking in December.

In December, Rodriguez married his long-time girlfriend Clementine Goutal.

Our thoughts go out to the families concerned.

I saw him jump the Puissance at the RDS last year. Seemed like a very nice guy and the crowd loved him. Very sad for all. RIP.
