    Hi,

I am just going to try and go back doing a bit to keep fit and cycle with a group on the week ends, as a starter bike which one of these would be ok, if any. I don't want to spend a lot at the moment, just in case I decide it's not for me or get lazy.

I can't post the links as i am a new user but the are carrera road bikes in Halfords one for 369 and one for 319, if someone with a bit of knowledge about bikes could take a look.

    Thanks

Hi , am in no means an expert but i have been cycling a carerra bike (same as one in halfords)

Its a great bike, i had borrowed it to get started and enjoy cycling it. Now i might start doing a 40k round trip commute to work in the spring and my mate said, use the carerra as a guide that when you go to buy your Bike To Work bike you will notice a difference with regards to the weight of the bike etc.

It will fit the purpose of what you want, it is great for a spin at the weekends, i've done a 70k spin on it and it does the job!

    Hi,

I'd advise you to buy a good condition second hand bike such as a Trek/Giant/Specialized etc. which is reasonably light and has a reasonable group set such as the latest version of Shimano Sora or Tiagra. The simple reason being if you start to get into cycling a bit more and want to do some of the longer spins or sportives, then a bike like this will be perfect for you and you may not want to or have to change it for a long time. However with a new but inferior or heavier bike (with an inferior group set) you just might find that you want to change it quickly. There's the world of barely used great bikes out there on websites and in bike shops. We've all been there...

Something like this? If it's suits your height, the price looks good.
