Hi all I am insured with Liberty in a civic and I have third party extension with them which allows me to drive other cars with tax and nct but can't be my cars

My question is can I drive my fathers Corsa car van but the Corsa is down as private tax on log book

What does your insurance certificate say?

i.e. "driving of other motor vehicles" or "driving of other motor cars"

If it's cars it has to be a passenger car. Even though the van is taxed privately it's still a van and you're not insured if it states "motor cars".

+1 I wasn't aware of this until a family member bought a small van and I thought of borrowing it to go to Ikea. I checked my Axa policy which said the other car had to be just that - a car.

The tax disc is a matter between the owner and the revenue but a van is a van, end of story.

Look at page 16 of the Liberty policy documents; it specifically excludes car vans.
