I'm looking for a new phone and have narrowed it down to these two phones.
Which one would you go for and why?

On Pixmania, the Galaxy S5 Neo is €332 while on the Oneplus website the Oneplus X is €269. If anyone knows of a better place to purchase these phones for a better price, please do let me know.

Also could someone clarify that these phones sold online are unlocked because I'm not sure.

Also I am currently a Meteor PAYG customer so if i buy either of these phones, do i have to just pop in the sim and go about my business or is there any other complications I will have to go through? I don't want to have to go on a bill pay plan.

    Comparison

The chipset maybe slightly better on the S5 NEO, Exynos 7580 Octa VS Snapdragon 801, but it wouldn't be enough to sway me. The OPX has 3GB ram vs the samsungs 2, OPX has an 8mp FF camera vs 5mp on samsung, resolution and size on both are pretty much the same.

Screen on both is 16M colour AMOLED.

Oneplus X is unlocked and works fine here.

I'm slightly biased in my opinion as I don't really like Samsungs anymore, I moved from Samsung to HTC and recently moved to Oneplus X.

The biggest benefit from OPX for me is how much I can customize it and it's bloatware free. Samsung phones come with too much rubbish IMO.

    Hi zombie,
Can you tell me how you find battery life, also what network are you with as i have heard it doesnt support some 4G bands.
    Thanks

I find the battery life pretty average, depending on what you're doing, gaming etc tends to run it down fast enough, but general standby I find it fairly decent, just have to tweak a couple of things.

As for networks I'm on Three and its fine.
The 4G bands for Ireland are 800/1800, and it covers both.
    OPX:
    4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800), 38(2600), 40(2300) - Europe

From experience i would be wary of the S5, 2 friends had to replace due to battery over heating. It seems to be quite common on them.

    not ideal.

I would go with the One+x. You'll find better support long term than some low-end samsung phone that I can bet they've already disowned like a redheaded child.
