UPC port forwarding

In order to enable port forwarding with UPC I requested IPV4 through the UPC reps, and since been I have been allocated a dedicated IPV4 address.

Now with a dedicated address I still cannot find open ports, and having scanned all ports with with this site, it appears as if the ports are in stealth, except 22 & 80 which are closed. The website suggests its the ISP, firewall or another NAT router. I get the same results when all firewalls are turned off.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Oddly my IP now shows up in Carlow but I'm living in Dublin, http://www.whereisip.net/.

Your IP is part of a pool, it'll never geo-locate correctly.

Commonly new users see this when the service isnt responding, not that the ports are actually closed. Unless theres something correctly configured to say "hey Im here" on the device within your network everything will be closed. Check your host machine and its firewall.

I have requested changing to IPv4 and this was done but I can't get port forwarding to work. I have read through all posts and I can't find a solution. All ports are closed even when I add in and save the ports I want to forward.

When I dial directly into the Modem, 192.168.0.1, I only seem to get a few clicks in the menu and then I get a timed out error, very annoying as I have to quickly log back in and hope I don't get the timed out error, tested wired and wireless, same issue.

I have the Technicolour 7200 model, can anyone point me in the right direction to enable port forwarding or do I contact UPC and ask them to check??? Can they check if I have port forwarding enabled or does this sit with me?

UPC will simply tell you they do not support this feature.

    That's not good.......

If I can't enable port forwarding through the UPC router can I use another router connected to it?

I use a TP-Link router with DD-WRT as my main LAN router. On the TC modem I put its IP address in the DMZ. All port forwarding is done then on the TP-Link as if it was the main router. Works fine.

If you bridge the 7200 and connect your own router then you can port forward from that router.

If you have the phone service that stops working tho.

Bridging the cisco 3925 doesn't break the phone service. Is it different on the 7200?

They always claimed it would for the 3925 for some strange reason.

This was only true for the EPC2425. The phone works fine on all other modems when bridged.
