I suppose that she is the only one who truly cares about his well being, she is the only one who has genuine love for him, it his banishment of Cordelia that makes him realise the mistake he has made and this in turn gives him a new perspective on life and possibly the fact that she is willing to forgive him after his cruelty towards her. I hope this helps x.
    That's a tricky question

Here are some links might be useful, to flesh out your answer and give a different viewpoint:

Is Cordelia the most hopeful part in 'King Lear'? I would argue there are no hopeful parts. Cordelia is definitely better than her sisters, but her stubbornness and pride (while mild in comparison to her father's) reflect Lear in such a way that there is a reminder that he may have once been like her, and she in turn may also be like him when she gets old (if she had been given the chance).

Similarly, Edgar reflects Gloucester in his naivety and easy nature. Forgivable in Edgar because of his character, but ultimately he would have become his father.

There are no hopeful characters in 'Lear', Shakespeare takes any hope at all out of the play by removing the comfort of religion as well, and by insinuating at the end that people never learn from their mistakes (Edgar: "We should speak what we feel, not what we ought to say". How did Cordelia get into this mess at the start....?)

    Completely bleak and hopeless.
