A family member moved away 3 and half years ago to find work as in his industry, there was no work. Main reason was to move away for some sanity and to save up for a small cottage to do up. Now that he's accumulated near enough to buy a cottage, he's now wanting to come home in spring.

If he can't find employment straight away here in this country, he's going to sign on until employment is found but one concern he has is that will he be entitled to any social welfare if he has savings.

Perfect scenario for him would be to find a cottage and everything to sail through when buying it then hell apply for the dole but what if it takes a few months to sort out, would he be entitled to anything while he has the money in his account.
