Back in late August and early September the Mods invited members to partake in this topic.

What has changed in your opinion? You had also in the time period mentioned in the above that you were taking a holiday from this forum.

Do you think things have changed or has the asylum been left to the patients to run?

    Growler!! for new mod election!

Ha ha, no! I've enough to deal with in real life!

I'm just interested in the OP's own opinion as to what changes have taken place since the "Great Purge" of August '15.

I've noticed since then that some informed and knowledgable posters have taken a step back from the forum and refrained from posting. Leaving the more vocal but less knowledgable to run the show.

So I suppose the question is: is the forum still enjoyable to read and contribute to?

Not enough hot chicks. That's my main gripe. Plus my offer to meet the mods in the car park of the Coachman's Inn on the old airport road for a water pistol fight to the death fell on deaf ears. I think my suggestion of 'looser buys lunch' didn't hold much appeal.

This sums up my recent thoughts on the forum. From my perspective, which is that of a low hours newbie part ways along the path to what will hopefully be a career on a flight deck in a commercial environment, I have learned quite a lot of "real-world" facts from this forum from experienced pilots who are doing everyday what noobs like me only dream of.

In my admittedly limited experience, commercial aviation has been quite a closed book in terms of contact with actual airline pilots (as opposed to qualified but unemployed fresh fATPL holders) , and the information they possess and can impart is, to me, priceless and invaluable and for that I am hugely appreciative.

However, it is the absence of some of these posters from the site in recent times that has me questioning the reliability of some sources on here with particular regard to practices by pilots and airlines. An inexperienced but enthusisiastic poster who reads something elsewhere online and regurgitating the information as fact on another forum such as this one is one thing, but a source who has actual experience or concrete factual information can offer far better perspective and can back up their posts with real world experience and/or knowledge.

To sum up, would the experienced posters please come back and return the forum to what it once was! Newbies such as me need your help and I for one am not ashamed to admit it! :D:

I can only assume they have changed to a satisfactory state as I see the OP did not follow through on his "holiday threat"

The mods (both of us) have had a discussion over PM about the issues raised and have made one definite decision to be implemented. This change however, cannot happen overnight.
Another new sticky (The "travel questions" thread) has been added. This allows the mods to merge any errant "Travel forum" type questions in one thread which can be answered if anyone here has the knowledge, this is a lot more welcoming than immediately berateing the new poster and moving their query to another forum.
This complements the "Ask a pilot" thread which is more for the budding new PPL holder or the curious hobbyists.

One thing that we are very clear on is that we will have less tolerance of back seat modding and post sniping on this forum. People all need to give each other some slack and not jump on the smallest little typo of misquote. This is not a professional forum.
Quite a number of posters have received polite PMs from the mods about their behaviour. We dont want to be handing out infractions and/or warnings. So far those PMs are sufficient. Infractions/warnings/bans are reserved for more serious offences. (I myself have issued a couple of perma-bans over the winter)
We want to maintain the casual atmosphere of Board A&A and avoid the heavily modded environment of some other aviaton websites.

As such this questioning mod decisions thread is a form of passive aggressive back seat modding it is being locked.
