This might be a stupid question but can a wisdom tooth that's partially erupted be classed as unerrupted? I can see a bit of the tooth.
Reason I ask is laya said they will only cover removal if my dentist classes it as impacted or unerrupted.
Going for xray next week. Fingers xd its straight forward to remove

Partially erupted is impacted so therefore covered.

Is the person (dentist or oral surgeon) who will be doing the procedure registered as a fully participating operator with laya?? If not, then laya may not cover it or there may be a balance for you to pay...

Hi oral surgeon, thanks for your reply! I'm not too sure. They just asked me for his name over the phone.
I know the last time I had to get a wisdom tooth removed I found no dentist wanted to do pre authorize with laya healthcare. One dentist told me it was because they had issued being paid in the past but that was nearly 2 years ago. So I ended up paying and getting half back.
They told me my dentist just needs to send an xray to them with a few notes outlining the position of the teeth

He is a general dentist, not oral surgeon AFAIK

So you need to ask your dentist if he can do it and how much he will charge you directly and if he will be part billing laya too or not...
If he is having nothing to do with laya, then ask laya how much they will give you back following treatment.
In both cases you will find that you have to pay some money out of your own pocket in addition to what laya pay. This is for a number of reasons; Laya pay below the going rate for this procedure and your dentist is probably only partly participating with the insurance companies...

You could go see an oral surgeon to have this done and have it fully covered but you will pay a consultation fee to go down this road.... An oral surgeon will definitely get the job done though....

Thanks for your help. Got referred to an oral surgeon in the end. Dentist said he could do it but that it would be too messy but and he'd rather refer me because of the position. He said it's growing horizontally. At least my insurance SHOULD cover the procedure. I presume ill have to pay some amount, hope its not too much im broke
