Off to Brazil in late Feb. Rough Plan is flying to Porto Alegre to see friends for a few days. Then going to fly to Florianopolis for about 5 days - then on to Rio for about 9 days, then home. I think we are staying in leblon in Rio as it's really nice and safe also. May take a trip for a day or two to one of the…

Off to Brazil in late Feb. Rough Plan is flying to Porto Alegre to see friends for a few days. Then going to fly to Florianopolis for about 5 days - then on to Rio for about 9 days, then home. I think we are staying in leblon in Rio as it's really nice and safe also. May take a trip for a day or two to one of the neighbouring areas around Rio. I hear Rio can be dangerous, am I ok to walk around with an SLR camera or am I asking for trouble?

Has anyone been, can you give me any advice?
