"View details" button in confirmation email not working

Since about June this year, most, but not all links in confirmation emails from eBay to view order details have stopped working.

If I hover over the button image in the email and examine the URL, I see it starts with http://rover.ebay.com but further on there is a reference in it to payments.ebay.co.jp. If I do click on the button all I get in my browser is a name resolution error and in the address bar is a URL starting with http://rover.ebayjapan.co.jp/

Now, neither my ISP's (UPC/VM) or Google's DNS servers can resolve rover.ebayjapan.co.jp, so it's pretty safe to assume this is a mistake.

Anybody else have this problem? And how on earth do I report it to eBay ... I can't find any kind of email or other online contact method for them anywhere, only by phone, and I don't think I could face that prospect.

The links work, its unique to you:

    http://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/xxxxxx/7?euid=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fpayments.ebay.co.uk%2Fws%2FeBayISAPI.dll%3FViewPaymentStatus%xxxxxxxxxx%xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx%xxxxxxxxxxx%xxxxxxxxxxxxxx%xxxxxxx%xxxxx

    And it resolves:
    C:\Users\xxx>nslookup rover.ebay.com
    Server: UnKnown
    Address: 192.168.0.1

    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: rover.g.ebay.com
    Addresses: 66.135.216.134
              66.211.178.172
              66.211.181.192
              66.211.181.172
    Aliases: rover.ebay.com

First port of call, your extensions. Adblockers could possible hit the redirect.

EDIT: Just saw its the Japan rover you're hitting, I'm getting a UK url. Using a VPN?

No, no VPN. Tried both UPC/VM DNS and Google, no luck.

Sometimes I strike lucky and I get one that references payments.co.uk, but there's nothing obvious that differentiates those purchases from the ones I'm having a problem with. Purchases from both ebay.ie, and ebay.co.uk are effected.

I've been seeing this problem for a long time, and tried to report it last year by emailing eBay but to no avail. Amazingly, they do not offer a way to report bugs with their site.

The link in the email (from "ebay@ebay.co.uk", even though I bought the item on ebay.ie) is of the form:
    http://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/.../7?euid=XXX&bu=XXX&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.jp%2Fulk%2Fvod%3Ftransid%3DXXX%26itemid%3DXXX%26qu%3D1&sojTags=bu=bu

Note the "www.ebay.co.jp" in there. So when I go to that address, it returns a HTTP status code 301 ("Moved Permanently") and redirects me to rover.ebayjapan.co.jp, which does not resolve for me.

Any suggestions on how to actually contact an actual human at eBay to resolve this sort of problem?

Had the exact same issue. Was alarmed at first, but it looks like it's a bug on ebay's software. They need to fix it.

I thought that it was just me and that I had clicked something wrong in my account. I been getting it for a couple of years now.

MOD: Not sure why you're opening a 2.5 year old thread to post something thats unrelated, so I'll close it.
