Longer Range Forecasts

    I have just heard on the news that one of the flood prevention strategies being proposed by the government is longer range forecasts & presumably warnings.

    Is this even viable with our climate? I can see the benefit of better radar but I would of thought that we are already at the current limit of forecasting.
