Any mortgage protection policies which recognise ecigarette users as nonsmokers?

    Just wondering if there any Irish mortgage protection providers which recognise e cigarette users as non smokers?

    I'm signed up to my mortgage protection policy as a smoker but have been using e cigarettes for the past 2 years so wondering if it's possible to get a discount on the smokers rate I'm paying. I'm currently with Irish Life but contacted them and they don't recognise any difference between ecigarette users and smokers. Are there any others who might give a discount?

    I'd look at how the policy is worded, especially the definition of smoking.

    as I understand it ecigarettes don't burn anything and so there is no smoke, just vapour

    Try New Ireland, at present they recognise someone using e-cigarettes as non-smokers, as long as you have not been smoking for at least 12 months.
