Lights too high?

I have a 2010 Ford Focus and recently when driving at night I have been getting flashed by a lot of cars coming towards me as if I have my full beams on.

I don't have them on but still get flashed, so I am guessing my dimmed lights are somehow blinding people.

I thought one of the bulbs might not be set right but I just checked them and they both look fine and straight.

Maybe the height setting is too high then? Is it possible they would go so high on their own as to blind people though? Is it possible on the Focus to change the height adjustment yourself with a screwdriver?

How did you check them? Did you just check the seating of the bulbs in the housing?

It's easy to check against a wall but it might not be exactly right.
If you still get flashed maybe bring it in to a pro

Also make sure the little light level button is on 0 (if there is one in your car)

Yes, I just checked the seating of the bulb as previously the bulbs had been put in at a slight angle causing a brighter light but this doesn't appear to be the case now.

If you bring your car to one of the garages that does free pre NCT checks, they can check alignment of your headlights for you. I only got my car NCTd yesterday and the guy in front of me failed for the same problem your having.
