    Hi folks,

    Beginner alert. :o

I am looking receive most if not all Spanish TV channels (fta at first but may want to add a subscription to it in the future) and have a few questions.

What kind of box would be recommend? Something that can record 2 programs at once and has a hard drive. (Possibly similar to the sky TV experience)

What kind of dish would be needed? I assume that it would be motorised & it can be moved through the remote control to pick up different satellites?

    Thanks in advance.

As far as I know all the Spanish stuff is on 30.0w and 19.2e so you'd get away with one dish. Both strong sats so an 80cm dish would be ample. You'll also need a quad lnb.

There won't be much free to air tbh. You'll likely have to go for a sub.

VU make nice relievers. Most if not all are dual tuners and will function as you specified. There may also be budget options but I couldn't give you much guidance

Probably best go motorised, but 19.2e & 30.0w are probably your best bets

I think a spanish sub is about €1,000, so FTA may be the way to go

    Good luck

The main Spanish Satellite provider is Canal+ (Merge of Via Digital and Canal Satellite(Actually called Movistar TV now I think)
This provider replicates its services across 30w and 19.2e, the services are to the best of my knowledge the same on both Birds.
You will not get both Sats on one dish unless you motorize, as there is a 50degree spread between them.
Unless you use a toroidal dish the max spread for a multi LNB set up is generally @22 degrees

That said my advice would be use 19.2e, then you can set up a multiLNB config that will allow easy access to 28.2 as well as the other main european Satellites with a lot less expense or difficulty than a motorized setup.

How little free-to-air content would we be talking roughly?

Could you link me up one? Do technomate do a good receiver?

My plan would be to get a motorised dish, any recommendations for a dish & motor?

My advice would be do not motorize. Pick 1 of 30w or 19.2e east and go with that.
If you want/needmore services go with a multiLNB set up. Motors are great, but unless you have a relatively sheltered location with a good view south they are not really great for irish weather. If you go with a motor, make sure you mount it somewhere sheltered and that you have easy access to for realigning.
Also with a motor, be prepared for long waits when switching channels if the dish has to move.
Motors are great and do have their uses, but getting a motor for Spanish TV would not be my recommendation as you do not need to receive both30w and 19.2.
    Just use 19.2!

A multi LNB setup with disecq switches will allow much greater flexibility and reliability. As an example you can watch one sateliite while recording from a different1.
It allows near instant channel changes between satellites(not possible with a motor) and in irish weather is generally a lot more wind proof than a motorized setup.

I use a multiLNB set up with 9e,13e,16e, 19.2e, 23.5e and 28.2e all booming in and I can use it as a pvr for those satellites without restricting what I watch when I record
As for the price of spanish TV sub, it can be gotten cheaper if you have a NIF and spanish address but it will still be the minimium of thr spanish monthly subscription via a spanish bank.

What is an lnb setup & disecq switches?

Does each switch come with an lnb?

Is it case of needing one switch for 9e,13e,16e, 19.2e, 23.5e?

Tried streaming Antena 3 & cuatro, didn't work unfortunately.

You certainly wouldn't get 19.2e and 30w on one fixed dish. Way too far apart
