    Hi,

We are thinking of getting a stove into the living room and trying to figure out if the cost is worth it.

Currently we have blocked fire place, seems to be bricked up not plaster. I've no idea of the condition of the chimney. Also it seems we have central heating pipes running behind the skirting in front of the blocked fireplace.

So I'm thinking we have the following considerations:

    1) unblock the bricked up fire place (new plaster work, new bricks for hearth, fireplace)
    2) reroute the pipes somehow (under the floor/fire place or behind the stove..etc.)
    3) survey the chimney flue
    4) purchase and installation of stove

Anyone here with a comparable project and costs?

    cheers
    J
