Can anyone recommend the correct way and any products to clean seat belts ?
Have some in a car that was laid up for 6 months covered in mold.

I'd try Auto Glym Interior Shampoo, I've used it on manky carpets before and they have come up like new, leaves a fresh smell too.

silicone spray is good as it will stop the belt from retracting slowly.

Not a good idea if you get it all over your hands each time you put your belt on

Unless you intend to remove them then a solution that will kill bacteria will work.
Scrubbing with Oxiclean or white vinegar or similar and a lot of elbow grease.

I'd start with something less intrusive, soapy water and then vinegar before I go for chemicals.

Try to gett them as dry as you can before they roll back so they don't sit wet in the belt channel.

Click them into the buckles ;)

With a towel on the seat to absorb moisture. A blast of a hairdryer on the front of them will speed up the process.

Have beige seatbelts in my car that were awfully dirty when I got it. Used biological detergent in hot water and a microfibre wash mitt. Pulled the seatbelts fully out the door and scrubbed up and down. Then dried with towels as best i could. They look like new now. Probably looked like a tool doing it, but worked very well. Left the belts plugged in with clothes pegs on them to stop them retracting. Dried fully overnight.

That clothes peg idea is a good one. Simple and effective!

It doesn't do that, you'd imagine it'd make the belt oily, but I've done it on loads of cars and never had problems with it transferring to clothes or onto your hand.

Did that once - took belts off, detached rollers and washed belts in a washing machine.

Will probably do that again soon - they're red (well, now I'd say they used to be) so need to be washed from time to time. :D
