Just curious as to what size hurley do you all use if still playing or did use when you played?

I remember approx 10 years ago using a 36" but now would use a 34"

In general the length of hurley used seems to be getting shorter. I know lads over 6 foot who are using very short sticks

By the way I'm 5-9" in height

It used to be the top of the hurley came up to your hip, not it's if you stand up straight and hold the hurley it should touch the ground without you bending your arm, Clare GAA had a good picture for it.

The main reason for the shortening of the hurley in my opinion is the changing from ground hurling to in the hand.

That's a good point about ground hurling. It more about keeping possession now. I know a couple of coaches who would go crazy if you ever pulled on the ground, they just see it as a 50:50 situation in regards to retaining possession so discourage it

I wonder if goalkeepers have also started using shorter sticks?

whatever about length I cant stand the size of bas on hurleys now. I may be disadvantaged but I much prefer the smaller bas of 20 years ago

It has made a lot of players look at lot better than they actually are as they have a bigger surface area to hit the ball with.
the bigger bas is a reflection of the decline of ground hurling
even the cultec hurleys have increased the bas size
