eBay seller changed quantity of item

    Hi Everyone,

I recently ordered 5 batteries for a drone from eBay and the listing clearly shows as 5 x batteries in my confirmation email from eBay and in my PayPal transactions. After the sale I noticed the seller changed the quantity to 1 battery (this has changed in some parts of my eBay account but not others) and when I contacted him about it he's saying it's unrealistic to expect 5 for the price I paid and that it must've been a mistake on my part to think that's how many I'd get. I'm 90% sure he's chancing his arm as the price I paid for 5 is standard across eBay's Chinese sellers (It's only a tenner and I've since reordered). I've told him to process a refund ASAP. Is there any point engaging him or should I just open a dispute? Is this a common scam?

    Thanks,

    Griff

I have seen some which were ambigious before.

The title might say a quantity but then you had to select that quantity in a dropdown box to get that actual quantity.

Can you post a link to the auction, you might be able to find if it has changed using google cache.

If others are selling for that price you can easily show it is the going rate.

    Open a dispute.

If he's in GB where they have same similar laws then no doubt he has entered into a contract with you.

    Offer and acceptance. yes.
    Agreement to terms. yes.
    Consideration. yes.

The OH had this happen, ordered a set of six, seller posted three then message her to say that it was a mistake. Not asking did she want to proceed, after shipping it (50%). Paypal claim 90% refund.
