Looking for service like Parcel Motel for a UK delivery

Good morning, folks of Online Buying & Auctions,

I am trying to send an item to a friend in England. I can't send it to his home address, nor to his work address (he has valid reasons for not being okay with either, which I respect). So I am looking for an English equivalent to Parcel Motel.

I have been searching online, and all I'm coming up with are services like inpost & collectplus, which are aimed at buying from online retailers. A Royal Mail PO box is over £100 sterling, so that's not really practical. I could travel over and give it to him, but that's a last resort!

Can anyone suggest a reliable (essential) and cost-effective (desirable) option? (If there's a more apt forum, feel free to move this. Mods).

    Thanks :)

Did see this crowd on Dave's The Money Pit lately!

EDIT: But to be honest, can't recommend them as have never used them and don't know how far along these are, considering they were on a "Dragon's Den-lite" show in recent months.

OP maybe the recipient can select somewhere that is suitable for him to collect from and convenient for you to send to. A neighbour, his local pub or a friend's house?

Credit to you, Basq, it's something to go on. The health warning is appreciated too!

All good options, but I'm trying to find a way to respect his wishes. :)

Have you checked if royal mail have something for visitors to an area? I think an post do.

Years ago I used to get stuff delivered to post offices here, I would ask in advance if it was OK and there was no charge. Did this in at least 3 different ones. I think there might be a charge to officially do it. I would just ring when I expected it to have arrived and go collect, the said I would need ID but never asked.
