Hi, Anyone living in Durrus, West Cork recommend a broadband provider. Thinking of moving to Dromreagh area of the village and concerned about the coverage in that particular spot.

    Thanks

If the area has ADSL2+ or VDSL services from eir/Vodafone/Sky, this should be your first port of call. You can check whether the exchange or cabs in the area are enabled here, select the NGA Fibre Broadband Network and check on "All" for the exchange status on the right-hand-side. If the cabinet or exchange is live and you are within range, then you can order broadband from eir/Vodafone/Sky.

You should probably also ask around the area (in the local shop/garage) to see what the locals suggest.

If fixed line isn't an option, then you can check which Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) operators provide services here. Drop the marker on the place you intend moving to and check on the Wireless ISPs option on the left-hand-side. This should give you the name of some companies that operate in the area. If you have a particular house in mind, call them with the GPS coordinates and they should be able to tell you if they can hit that house from their masts. Be conscious of data limits that some of these operators apply to accounts.

If neither of these are options, then you're out-of-luck for real broadband and may need to revert to mobile midband, but whatever you do, don't go with a Satellite solution as these are totally unsuitable for modern internet access.
