Were looking to upgrade our handling system as we want to record lamb weights to see who's performing and who isnt. Can anyone recommend a good drafter (doesn't have to be electric) and tag reader that wont cost the earth. Obviously the prattley one from o donovans would be the daddy but was quoted over 3 grand for the drafter and tag reader(which can read cattle tags as well) at the ploughing!! Maybe some day!!!!

Stan I have seen a couple of guys using the shearwell drafter with the farmworks software for weighing. It had three draft options, think the price was less than the prattley but can't remember exactly. I have the TGM psion reader but not yet Bluetooth linked to a drafter and find it a good reader. I think I saw someone with a tru-test drafter but think they were maybe made in America. Suppose like you say depends on how much you wanna fork out...

I like that drafter. Its ideal for what I want to do. those small EID tags look nice and tidy also hadn't seen shearwell around here. I dont think they operate in the republic though which is a shame

Its bloody 9,500 sterling or 11,160 with the reader. The prattley one is looking cheap now. You northern boys must have deep pockets lol

Sweet mother of baby Jaysus, didn't know it was that price. Christ on a bike that's horrendous money. Thinking about it now the two farms I saw it on do a lot of work for research institute here so probably grant funded to the max!!!
