Do ye price around in general for items?

Was in the coop the other day for a few sheets of cladding. Coop were charging €3.80 per foot. Rang another lad that does cladding but is about 15 miles away and he was €2.80 per foot. Some difference there. Now I was only buying two 8ft sheets but if one had any amount of sheets it wouldn't be long adding up.

My coop seem dog expensive for everything but the problem is that they are the nearest crowd for those sort of items. Its handy to run in while in the middle of some job on the farm and not having to worry if I have the cheque book or not as it can be put on the account.

Yes and u got to be ruthless about it with no loyalty to anyone within reason, big savings to be made on fertiliser ,meal ,vaccines and doses I find

Stay with the same person every year for meal, got a €70 discount on a €650 order last harvest.
Wonder will I get the same on the pallet I ordered Thursday :P
Other things like dosing, posts/wire etc we'd shop around for.

Simply put, not enough. Trying to Di it a bit more but it's hard when your not the only person purchasing.

I'd check the price on a fair share of things. There's times too merchant credit may be needed and a fiver on a ton of meal won't really annoy you.

    shop around for everything

i don't spend time haggling & by now most of the reps. know my form & understand they will either get an order or else a quick good bye so I get their best quote first.

Yeah I price most things but if I'm in a hurry for something like in the middle of a job I'll just pick it up.
Local merchant is fairly good in fairness

The local coop here catch you on the small things that you wouldn't even think of pricing. Ie charge €4.99 for a small tube of grease. I price everything and got to know where is cheapest for everything , buy from a range of places.
