Slight streak from wiper, NCT Fail?

    Hi,
The NCT is due on the missus' car next week, first one. The driver's side wiper leaves two tiny streaks (I'm talking about 1mm streaks about 1cm apart) after the down stroke of the wiper. I've cleaned the windows, cleaned the wipers but the streaks are still there, so it's not grit or anything). It's in the middle of the blade, more or less and it clears itself fairly quickly when driving. Would that be an automatic fail?

I'll probably tip up to Halfords and get a replacement set anyway, but I was wondering if any class of a streak counts as "Not cleaning windscreen effectively" (a direct quote from the NCT manual).

The blades were changed when we bought the car just over a year ago, there's still plenty of rubber on all of them.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

    Plenty of rubber left :)

It's the thin rubber blade that does the wiping typically lasting 1 to 2 years. Time for new blades

I doubt it will fail as mine were doing that when I brought my one in and it passed. I would change em as soon as you can tho. They are cheap so it's best pay the money for a full view of the road :D

One of my wiper blades had a slight cut in the rubber making a line every time it went up or down. It passed NCT without a bother.

Yeah it's not an issue. If the blades are the same length you can swap over so driver had the best wiper blade.
