Just wondering if anyone had these at their wedding on the tables and if they found them a good idea or not or would they be a waste of money?

We are having a photo booth anyway so maybe these would be a bit of a waste to have as well.
    Thanks

We just had two or three scattered around the venue and they were all used and taken haha.. think they are a good idea even if tis just kids use them.. Home store and more do a fine one for something like €3 or €4 or they have the fancy ones for €10 or there abouts

I hadn't planned to have selfie sticks but I seen them in dealz a few days before the wedding and picked one up for every table.
Definitely a good purchase...The craic guests had with them was unreal.
We got loads of great group pics from most of the tables too. The sticks were definitely put to good use!

If you go with the basic ones, We put a little tag on each stick with instructions for use too just so everyone knew to use the timer on their camera. I personally never wld have figured that out!

Ah thanks for the replies. Might get a few and put them on the tables with the younger crowd who would know how to use them ha ha. Although I'm young enough and have never used one oops.

We have also set up a FB page for the wedding.....we are going to post the page name all around the room and ask people to upload pics straight to that.....then we hopefully won't miss out on any good ones!

Hi secret bride, love the idea of the fb page, how did you set it up? Is it a group page? And we are planning to do selfie sticks too, good minds think alike!

I just clicked on 'create a page' on the left hand side of my own page and created a community page. I haven't published it yet as it's obviously a secret wedding lol! But it's good to go and I've added my secret squirrel team as admins and asked my room decorater to get the page name onto all the tables on the night. It'll be great to get all the pics together as we aren't both friends on FB with everyone who's coming.....at least this way we get to see all that are posted on there :-)

Great idea with the FB page...we set up a wedpics account and mentioned it on the wedding invite, mass booklet and on the little instruction tag on the selfie sticks.

Everyone embraced it and between that and FB we have some brilliant pics of the day and night from our guests. I want to make another album just of all the guests pics to have to look back on in years to come.

Being the cynical groom and the miser when it came to the purse strings :) the selfie sticks turned out to be a great idea in the end. We had 1 per table and there are some great shots of ppl. We put a card on the table with an Instragram hashtag and we got tonnes of photos, also the photographer caught some great shots of ppl having craic with them. we got them in the Tiger stores for like a fiver each.

We also had the selfie mirror and it was class, everyone loved it. Very classy and again I was a big no advocate on this stuff leading up to the wedding, glad I gave in though, it worked very well.

ah we love grooms having a say! What is the selfie mirror? I am intrigued. Do the people stand in front of it and take a selfie?

It's just a different take on the photo booth as far as I am aware. Same thing done differently.

Anyone know how much the selfie mirror costs to rent?

It's actually very different and far classier than the booth , again as the cynical groom ;) . I have to give it to the bride when she pushed me on this. It's all touch screen and its full length, so the users can see the photo before it's taken and then printed out there and then. It's really all very quick and classy! You stand in front, put on your props and do something stupid, press the screen, it counts down and then takes the photo and shows you the photo in full length, then it prints out a number of copies.

Not joking, I was surprised how well it went down. I think it was there for 2-3 hrs in the room. And also it wasn't in anyway distracting , very subtle really. Ppl just went over to it when ever it was free. It constantly had 4-5 ppl at it getting snapped, also we as the wedding couple got a copy of every photo on USB drive so can even add them to our album. :)

There's a video of it in use on the Facebook page, go to videos on their page. We got it from these guys.

Wow! now that sounds amazing! Do you mind me asking how much it was??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,359 ✭✭✭jon1981

It was in around 500-600 if i remember correctly, though it might have been slightly over 600 now I think of it. Sounds expensive I know but it includes all prints and USB drive with photos. Say you have 4 ppl in the photo, all 4 ppl can get a copy there and then. They probably have different price models, I'm sure they could reduce it if say you limit the number of photos they print out, paper and ink I would imagine is not cheap. I didn't handle the specifics of the deal unfortunately, will have to ask herself if that was even possible.
