    Hi all.
Has anyone suggestions for a venue for a small intimate wedding. We would be looking at 25 guests max. Although I would like to keep it around 20.
We are currently in Dublin. Willing to travel probably an hour outside.
I probably should add that there will be about 5 children in attendance.
Budgetwise looking to keep as low as possible. Maybe 50 a head max.
Does anyone have any idea what sort of deposits we'll be asked for to secure the date?
The schoolhouse hotel in ballsbridge has caught our eye so far but we haven't been to see it yet.
    Thanks

We were looking the same numbers in and around Dublin a lot of places just aren't interested which is annoying. We did it at Kippure estate in Wicklow within the hour and they were very flexible on budget they did a great job too I must say. It's out in the middle of nowhere too so you aren't having to worry about random party crushers either! There is a little holiday village there too so plenty of accommodation.

Its on the relaxed end of the scale if you're looking for something more formal then elsewhere is perhaps best. We were just looking for something nice and comfortable so it fit the bill perfectly. You can also have the ceremony there we did that which made the day a lot easier!

I can't recall exactly how much the deposit was I think it was €600-€700 maybe pretty sure it was <€1k anyway.

We had ours in the Schoolhouse back in 2009. It may have changed hands since then though.

The food was fantastic and the staff were all very easy to work with. Had about 40 at ours I think. It was a great spot for us, very close to the registry office.

It's lovely in there, a bit spread out so you can group people together, but afaik they cater to small weddings.

    Best of luck with it!

Yes, a private dining room in a nice restaurant is the way to go! Google and you'll find loads of restaurants in Dublin that will cater for your group.

Fallon and byrne restaurant is beautiful and they cater for weddings and do an a la carte menu extremely reasonably (under 40 euro)

There's a place called rosedale house in Shankill, lovely old house surrounded by outbuildings, down near the sea. have never been in it, but I walk by often.
Looks like a lovely place for a wedding.

My BIL got married in Kettles Country House Hotel in Swords and it was fantastic. They had it in the restaurant bit upstairs, and there were about 40 at it, including about 10 kids. No idea how much it was per-head, but it'd be worth checking out. The food was amazing.

Sorry for hijacking the thread - just wondering at the weddings for under 40 people was there after dinner entertainment or did people just sit around and chat? Thanks

Well if you mean was there music, yes. Venues compact the tables around the dance floor. Other guys on here who do it will say same, a DJ who knows his business can look after a smaller crowd. Usually great craic. Smallest wedding I've played at was 20.
They're certainly different nights then the big 300-400 guest weddings, not everyone will be dancing all night. But there's a lot more freedom for everyone to get songs requested that they like.

We had the restaurant in the Carnegie court in swords. They closed off the back section , and we had the early bird menu.everyone ordered what they wanted and were happy.

OP I was recently at a lovely small wedding in Clontarf Castle. Meal was served in the restaurant upstairs (section to ourselves) and there was a section of the bar downstairs reserved for our use during the day & night. I don't know how much of a deposit was paid as I wasn't closely involved but they were really happy with it.

At the one I was at there was a pianist during the meal but afterwards it was just sitting around & chatting which was great. Didn't feel like had to compete with a band to have a conversation with people & was a fab night.

Saw an ad for this place on FB the other day. Not sure about price but seemed a nice spot for a small wedding.

Other than that, I think I'd look at restaurants for numbers like that. Fallon&Byrne is a good option.
