Upgrading from 04 focus...scrappage deals?

    I have a 04 focus with 110K miles on it. Serviced last week. It's running fine but the mechanic tells me rear bushes need doing and I will need a new steering rack soon. Overall it's looking like needing to spend about 25% of the car value to get these done.

    Car is perfect otherwise and every time I get it serviced the mechanic tells me what a great car it is. But between motor tax, annual nct and now this, the writing is on the wall.

    I love the focus but new is probably too much. Looking at the fiesta but the scrappage on the i20 makes it attractive. I do about 1000 miles a month, a mixture of city driving and Dublin to Cork/Limerick /Galway runs. Any thoughts?
