So far it seems that argos have the cheapest sim free s6 at 539 euros. Anyone know any reputable above board sellers that are cheaper?

Yes both are essentially the same thing. Unlocked is a term usually used when a phone was been unlocked from a network. Sim free means it has never been locked to any network. Sim free phones will also not have any network branding of any kind baked into the software such as bootlogos and network apps.
