Advice on maintaining/fixing overall house

    I've a few bits and pieces that need doing at my house. Couple of examples...

    1. Leaky shower
    2. Water marks on Living room ceiling
    3. Tiny hole in roof

    Am not much of a dab hand at diy so want to get in people to do the job. My worries are...

    1. Fear of the job not being done right/the tradesman doing a runner. Some bad experiences
    2. Bad estimates and not being able to know whether I am being ripped off

    Would like to get these sorted but like I said, as it's my own property, am a bit paranoid. Any advice based on your own experiences?

    Word of mouth, ask neighbours and friends who they would recommended.

    Post what area your in and maybe somebody here can recommended.

    As a tradesman for over 20 years I get a lot of recommendations and also give out a lot of names to my clients.
    I only recommended people I would personally guarantee and the people who recommended me have the same standards.

    So don't tar everybody with the one brush.

    I rekon 98% of people are good & honest, same with client's.
    BUT you do get what you pay for in this life 😉
