What device. tablet, hybrid?

    I need to purchase a device for my brother.
    Main use will be bringing it around in his jeep, working with gmail, minor editing of the odd excel document. Printing some things off in the evening on a wireless printer.
    I'm assuming an Android device would be best as we work with gmail and google drive.
    Budget would prob be around 500.
    Would just a tablet with a keyboard case be best?

    Would love anybody's thoughts on this
