BMW media upgrade

    Hi all,

I have been looking online at media upgrade options for a BMW 3 series (2007) but having little success for my basic BMW model.

The first pic below is my current unit and the second is an example of an after market kit for a different model.

I would really like to do something similar if at all possible. I reckon I have zero chance of getting a newer model car in the next 2 years (minimum) so would like to make the most of what I have got.

    Anyone got any tips?

The aftermarket unit there is a double din unit whereas the original unit is a single din unit. Your existing heater system is in the way of fitting a double din system from what I can see. Not sure if that can be moved or might be more trouble and expense than it's worth.

Maybe it's worth PMing bmstuff below, he upgrades BMW systems all the time and might have a solution for you:

    NP.

Also your car is an E90 whereas the aftermarket unit you posted is for an E46 which is the older model that could accommodate a double din unit.

It is actually easier to put a double din in an e90 then an E46. Only ones that will easily go in an E46 are the car specific ones.

    How does that work?

Have a look at a Dynavin unit.

Only problem is that it costs about 800 euro.

EDIT: Actually, since you have a manual climate control module you need the XM version, here:

Looks really great! But pricey, especially with todays exchange rate. I work it out at up to E950 :(
